Parent-Friendly Privacy Summary

A plain-language summary for parents and guardians using the combined Bamio family and school-linked app

Version 3.0 Dated: 22 August 2026

Published: 22 August 2026. This summary accompanies Privacy Policy Version 3.0 and follows its effective dates.

What Bamio is

Bamio is an educational platform for school-age children. Parents and students can use learning features such as speaking practice, presentation practice, Voice Diary, study-material uploads, exercises, study planning and AI-assisted explanations. If a school uses Bamio, school assignments, attendance, marks, teacher feedback or other school-linked information may also appear in the same app.

The app may look like one product, but not all information is treated the same way. Personal/family learning content and school-directed academic records can have different visibility, purposes and retention rules.

What we may collect and why

What we may collect Why
Parent name, email and account details Create and secure the parent account; manage the child profile; send important notices and reports.
Child name/display name, age/date of birth, grade, language and school/class where relevant Personalize learning, link the correct school/class and show age/grade-appropriate content.
Voice and audio Provide speech practice, transcription, fluency/presentation feedback and Voice Diary features.
Video/presentation recordings Provide Spotlight presentation feedback and related reports where the feature is enabled.
Photos, PDFs, handwriting, answers and study materials Answer questions, provide OCR/vision assistance, check work and support learning.
Scores, attempts, time spent and study history Track progress and personalize recommendations for the same child.
School-linked assignments, attendance, marks, submissions and teacher feedback Provide school workflows and reports to authorized school users, parents and students.
Identity or age-verification documents in specific school/verification workflows Only where a school workflow is explicitly enabled and legally permitted — and then Bamio keeps only the last four characters of the number, never the full ID or a copy of the document.
Device, security and app information Keep accounts and services secure, reliable and working properly.

How AI is used

  • Bamio uses AI-assisted systems for transcription, OCR/vision, explanations, feedback, summaries, exercises and recommendations.
  • External providers may include Google Gemini, DeepInfra and Groq, depending on the feature and fallback configuration.
  • Bamio does not intentionally send a child’s content to an AI provider for the purpose of training that provider’s public or general-purpose AI model.
  • Provider terms and technical settings differ, so the full Privacy Policy and current subprocessor list are the source of truth for provider-specific processing.
  • Bamio may use your child’s own learning history to personalize recommendations for that same child.
  • AI output can be wrong or incomplete. It is educational assistance, not medical, psychological, developmental or other diagnosis.

Our main promises

  • No sale of children’s personal data.
  • No third-party behavioural advertising or targeted advertising to children.
  • No biometric identification using a child’s voice, face or video.
  • No public child profile or open stranger-chat feature by default.
  • Private family-app content is not intended to become visible to a school merely because the child is school-linked.
  • School users should only see data that their role allows them to see.
  • We aim to minimize sensitive identity-document collection and to use less intrusive verification methods where reasonably possible.

When your child is linked to a school

Authorized teachers and school administrators may see school-linked assignments, submissions, attendance, marks, scores, completion, teacher feedback and reports according to their role. The school may determine the purpose of some school records, while Bamio operates the technology and may separately process data for security, account administration, support and legal compliance.

Personal Voice Diary entries, personal My Bag material or other direct family-app content should not be visible to the school unless the user submits or shares it through a school-linked feature or another clearly disclosed workflow.

How long we keep information

Retention depends on the feature. Voice Diary is designed as a persistent journal and may remain while the entry/profile is kept. School records follow the school agreement and applicable retention requirements. Other audio, video, uploads, transcripts and logs are kept only for the period required by the feature, security or legal obligations.

Your choices

  • Review and correct information associated with your child where the feature permits.
  • Delete a child profile or request account deletion.
  • Withdraw a permission or consent where applicable, understanding that the related feature may stop working.
  • Ask who can see school-linked information and contact the school where the school controls the academic record.

Where information is stored: Bamio’s main database and its backups are hosted in Mumbai, India. Some information is processed, or briefly stored, outside India by the providers listed in the full Privacy Policy — for example for AI feedback, speech-to-text and email.

Uploads: the working copy of a practice video, photo or PDF is held in secure private storage while it is being processed, then deleted. Anything kept for you — like your practice history — follows the retention rules in the full Privacy Policy.

Marketing: we may publish anonymous combined statistics that never identify any child. Your child’s own information, work or recordings are never used in marketing without your separate written permission.

Government IDs: where a school records them, Bamio keeps only the last four characters of an Aadhaar or birth-certificate number — the full number is never accepted.

Contact Bamio with privacy questions or complaints.

Account deletion

Bamio provides an account-deletion route in the app’s parent settings, and account/data deletion can also be requested at www.bamio.in/delete-account or by email at admin@bamio.in.
