What BAMIO is: An educational app for school-age children (Classes 3–10) that helps them practise spoken English, reflect through voice journaling, get AI tutoring on their own school notes, and build study habits. A parent or guardian creates the account — children do not sign up on their own. We are currently in a closed beta with invited parent testers.
The five promises that matter most

No data sale or sharing.
Data only goes to service providers (database, AI inference, email, push) who process it on our instructions. We never sell it.

AI doesn't train on your child's content.
No-training mode is in place with Groq, Google Gemini, and any future AI partner. Your child's voice and notes stay yours.

No public profiles or open chat.
Your child cannot be found, friended, followed, or messaged by strangers. There is no community feed, no leaderboard, no open chat.

You can delete your child's data.
From inside the app today. Full account deletion paths and a public deletion URL are being added before public launch.
What we collect — and why
Parent's email, name, optional phone

When we ask the AI for feedback, we send the child's display name and age/grade with the prompt so the response is age-appropriate. We never send the child's full date of birth, school details, or parent contact.
What we don't collect from children
No precise location
No biometric IDs
No advertising IDs
No contacts or calendar
No browsing history
No payment card info
No marketing emails to children
No last name or home address
Who processes data on our behalf
Groq
Speech-to-text and AI feedback. Audio is discarded after transcription. No training on your data.
Google Gemini
Backup AI inference (paid tier, no-training mode enforced).
MongoDB Atlas
Encrypted database. Stores account data, profiles, activity records, and reports.
Expo Push
Push notification delivery. Pipeline not yet active during the closed beta.
Resend
Transactional email delivery — verification, OTPs, weekly parent reports.
Render
Application hosting. All data passing through application servers.
Apple / Google Play
Subscription payments when launched. We receive only the subscription status — not your payment card.
We don't share data with anyone outside this list for their own purposes.
What's still being built — closed beta honesty
- Self-service email verification at registration (today the closed beta uses an invitation-based process).
- A formal consent record stored with timestamp and policy version.
- Self-service parent-account deletion in-App and a public delete URL at bamio.in/delete-account (today, parent-account deletion is requested by emailing info@bamio.in).
- One-click "Download my child's data" export (today, requested by email).
- Possible migration of password/PIN hashing from HMAC-SHA256 to bcrypt.
All of the above will be live before public-store submission.
